My mom first made this recipe when I was about 20 years old. No need to tell you that the original recipe did not use almond milk, but rather 15% cream.  However, this was the first recipe my mom made in the attempt to eat healthier food. I am fortunate that my mom always cooked at home. Everyday, she was preparing a fresh cooked meal for dinner. We rarely ate out and when we did it was a real party for my sister and I (which kid doesn't love McDonald's!). Back then, we were not as concerned about fat, carbs, protein and sugar. (more…)
